Gallery:  Polar Bears of Churchill

During the second week in November, 2023, I travelled with Natural Habitat Adventures to Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. It is around Churchill that the polar bears at this time of year gather and wait for the sea ice to form on Hudson Bay. The bears spend most of the year on the sea ice feeding on the abundant seal population.

Our group spent four days and nights on the polar tundra eating and sleeping in the moveable tundra lodge. During the days we would travel along Hudson Bay and across the tundra in specially designed polar rovers, tracking, observing and photographing polar bears and other wildlife. The bears were plentiful, and we saw a number of female bears with cubs, including a bear with triplets, which we were told if a very rare occurrence. We also experienced the Northern Lights.
This was an outstanding and unique experience, and I have included in this gallery a few of the many images from the trip.
